2017 Deerassic Park/NWTF Youth Hunt is Set

CAMBRIDGE, OH - The National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation, in partnership with the National Wild Turkey Federation Belmont County Limbhangers Chapter, will select seven participants to go on a guided youth deer hunt this year. A strict application and selection process is followed to determine finalists for the hunt.

To be eligible applicants must be age 11-17 by November 18, 2017. A completed application must be submitted by October 13, 2017. Applicants will be evaluated on their commitment to conservation and preservation of our hunting heritage.

The all-day hunt will be held on November 18 (Ohio youth gun season) on private properties in southeastern Ohio. It will be a 100% wild, fair chase hunt. The event will be headquartered at Deerassic Park, 14250 Cadiz Rd., Cambridge OH, 43725.

Hunters will arrive Nov. 17 and hunt all day Nov. 18. The youth guided hunts will be with Deerassic Park staff/guides.

Deerassic Park is operated by the National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation and maintains and hosts its

programs and events at the Deerassic Park Education Center in Cambridge, near Salt Fork State Park. Their mission statement is: "The guiding philosophy at Deerassic Park Education Center is to reconnect youth and families with outdoor activities and recreation, fostering and developing a life long appreciation for the outdoors and nature. This is accomplished primarily through programs and events involving regional youth and their parents, and is done at little to no cost for the participants."

Throughout the year, Deerassic Park Education Center provides community and educational events and programs to reach out to youth and families. Founded in 1996, The National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation is dedicated to providing their programs and events, and through their commitment to maintaining the Deerassic Park Education Center. The education center is located on 130 acres, with a main building, a three-acre pond, trails and event areas including 15,000 sq. ft of pavilion space. The Deerassic Park Education Center also maintains and a herd of deer for youth and families to experience viewing, while the main building houses a unique collection of mounted animals and artwork.

Deerassic Park is also well known for its annual key fundraiser, the Deerassic Classic Giveaway and Outdoor Expo, held in early August each year at their facility.
